The annual Final Gathering of the UNIGOU Program took place on the 28th of February in the Respirium Room, CIIRC of the Czech Technical University in Prague. For a couple of hours, Brazilian students who have just spent last weeks working as interns on scientific projects mingled and shared experiences from their work and stay in the Czech Republic.

This year’s edition of the UNIGOU Program is a record-breaker, having the largest number of participants so far in eight years of the Program: one hundred and thirty. The students present at the UNIGOU 2020 Gathering have developed their internships at several universities and research centres around the Czech Republic. Among other activities, the students also had the chance to talk to the representatives of Study in Prague, who were introducing them to the available Master and PhD opportunities in the capital of the Czech Republic.

Traditionally, the welcoming speech was delivered by the Vice-Rector for Science, Creative Activities and PhD Studies of the Czech Technical University in Prague, Prof. Zbyněk Škvor. This year, he was also accompanied by Pavla Havrlíková, the former Consul General of the Czech Republic in São Paulo and Marcelo Vaz Campos, the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Brazil in Prague. All of them emphasized the importance of scientific cooperation between the two countries and listed many benefits of having an international exchange experience like the one that the UNIGOU participants were able to have.

Ultimately, the event was a great opportunity to strengthen bonds between the students and representatives of Czech Academia, making it a perfect closure to another successful edition of the UNIGOU Program.
